Very excited to be joining the guys at Huddersfield University tomorrow for the first “Brilliant Design Lecture”

Exceptional speakers including Nik from POKE, Jay from ex Brooklyn Brothers and other great voices of the industry. Its ramping up to be a wonderful event, really inspirational and hopefully the first of many to come

Eleanor from Roome will be overseeing the “graduate wheel of fortune” and working with the audience and speakers in chairing questions and putting in her ten pence piece in too

A friend from Poke for many years we are very lucky that she has decided to come and join us, using her years of digital knowledge and creative background (she can knit for Britain!) to continue Roomes promise and commit to helping digital specialists.

Emma will be using her experience of studio and project management in working closely with freelancers and our breadth of fab clients.

It has been a tough 12 months for them but the time has come for the hard training to pay off, when the masses of cheering observers line the path of the race and shout for their team.

A strict diet of grass and pellets has meant that both teams are ready and prepared for the big race on Saturday the 3rd of April.

Having long offered sagely advice to Wed designers and developers alike, the chaps at Smashing Magazine now bring us The Smashing Book, showcasing best practices in modern Web design. And wouldn’t you know, they’ve featured our website as a shining example of how to use a monochromatic colour palette. High fives and back slaps all round, not to mention big love to Cookie, for all his excellent design and illustration work.

Bringing invaluable experience from their varied digital careers, Rae from her years at Glue and Sabine from running her own agency and time with Poke and Grand Union, they continue to bring unmatched insight for our clients and those that we represent.

Roome are very very proud that they will both be continuing their careers with us as company directors.

We continue to take pride in the fact that Roome dont just say that we know the industry and talk the talk but that we have had years of working within the walls of some of our best clients.

After two years with the little hungarian - Edit, we, at Roome, said our fond fairwells as she turned her focus to her masters in international business. As the first Hungarian to study this masters at Kings college we like to think that we had a little something to do with her impending success and world domination.

So it’s official, online ad spend has overtaken TV. We’ve all been talking about it for what seems like forever but now the day hath come. At the Golden Stiletto Awards last night some innovative examples of advertising in the digital space were out in force, it seems there’s no end to the possibilities for this medium. Now we just need to see an improvement in measurement and digital really will be ready to take over the world.

End the Brutal Killing of More Than 20,000 Dolphins Every Year in Japan 

I tend to be a secret squirrel when it comes to the charities and motions that we support here but after seeing the film The Cove on Friday night I had to blog about it.

Having lived in Japan and being a passionate diver I had to go and see the movie when it premiered on Friday, and nothing could have prepared me.

Its not a film for the faint of heart but it’s a film that if you care about the oceans and animals that live in it, you have to see.

This is a documentary revealing the slaughtering of dolphins in a small coastal town in Japan.

Please take some time to go and see the film or support the movement to stop the killing.
